Jordan Cook

Jordan CookSaskatchewan born and raised Jordan Cook isn’t your ordinary music story. Western Canadians have watched him grow up on stage developing from a talented tyke to being on the verge of world rock stardom. Watching his Dad play guitar at two years of age, something inside him connected like it was meant to be. By the time Cook was six he was proficient enough to perform at local jam sessions starting at Buds on Broadway on Saturday afternoons.

By the age of eleven the reputation of the guitar prodigy had spread and with his dad playing every possible role for him but musician, he and a couple of young musicians started performing weekend shows at night clubs across Western Canada, doing his homework on the side. Cook developed a reputation for incredible musicianship and the beginnings of a dazzling live show way beyond his tender years.

By the time Cook was 15; he and his young band were invited to  perform in the Jazz Café with the possibility that he might be invited to guest performing in one or two headline shows on the main stage. He got to play with some absolute greats including Van Morrison, Edgar Winter, B.B. King, and blew away the promoters and audiences. He was heralded “The Revelation of the Festival” and held over to headline his own night.

Rock and Roll royalty Gary Moore, Edgar Winter, Rick Derringer and the late Jeff Healey went on record suggesting that Jordan Cook may be the finest player in the world. MacLean’s Magazine named Jordan Cook in the “100 Canadians to Watch” issue (he was the youngest profiled). At sixteen he performed as a guest to Tony D at the Ottawa Blues Festival. Here he had one song to win an audience and by its end 8,000 fans were screaming on their feet. The following year Jordan brought his own act to the Ottawa stage opening for Canada’s Tragically Hip. This is where he received to encores before the Hip even hit stage. In 2006 Jordan Cook was the first Canadian Rock artist to tour all across China.

Before returning home he hooked up with song writing production team “The Matrix” in Los Angeles, there Jordan was featured on a documentary with the Matrix’s (Korn, Avril Lavigne) stating he is the most talented artist they’ve worked with. Jordan’s business manager Alvin Handwerker is no slouch in the music world. He has managed and/or business managed great artists including ACDC, the Bee Gees, Aerosmith, Bette Midler, Gavin Degraw, Diana Ross, and many others. Handwerker is very excited about Jordan’s future calling him the hottest young rock talent he has come across in years.

“The music industry is missing the feeling”, says Cook. His live performance vividly puts his word into action. Cook’s vision was to bring ’the feeling’ into a record, and now he presents his latest album “Seven Deadly Sins”. The album has been in the works for nearly five years including a host of great producers and artists. From the addition of raw bass tones of Ben Shepherd (Soundgarden) to the percussion of Matt Chamberlain (Pearl Jam, David Bowie, Elton John, Kanye West), the production had masterworks from the Matrix in California to Blair Mackichen in the UK and Montreal’s Howard Bilerman (Arcade Fire). To finish the album Cook brought it home and tucked it in properly by recording with many friends who he started out with, and as well bringing Bill Kennedy(Nine Inch Nails)to dial in the sounds he was looking for. Now final mixing and mastering is happening with Vancouver heavy hitter Mike Fraser (Ac/Dc, Metallica, Bryan Adams) and Juno award winning Kevin Churko (Ozzy Osborne) of Las Vegas. It’s no wonder Cook is geared up and ready to hit this one hard.
