Torch Makes Lasting Impression in Herbert

By John Shurniak
The Town of Herbert experienced a once-in-a-lifetime event. The Olympic Torch Relay hit the town right around sunset. This capped off perfectly the weekend’s events which included public skating, a Street Hockey Tournament, and Hockey Day in Herbert.

About 300 - 500 people hit the streets of Herbert on a beautiful winter day. Hundreds of mini-flags were distributed to the spectators as they watched the Torch go by. Thousands of Photos were snapped by excited on-lookers, as they cheered on the Olympic Torch.

The Mayor gave a quick speech welcoming the Torch to the Town.  Although the torch was only here for 15 minutes, it has made a lasting impression on the town, and its citizens.
